Bluetooth hell with Windows 11

I have an internal BT card (Ubit Gigabit PCI-E 1200Mbps WIE7265) and ever since installing Windows 11, Bluetooth issues came raining down.

1. When disabling BT via the BT toggle button in the systray menu, BT sometimes needs a long time to truly shut off and the button can not be interacted with in the meantime.

2. When restarting Windows during issue no. 1, there's a chance Windows will not recognise the BT device at all with the error “USB device descriptor request failed”, even after reinstalling the driver. I had to physically disconnect and reconnect the USB to the motherboard to fix this issue.

3. My 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controllers sometimes show "Driver error" in the BT device list. They can be connected but there's no input. I'd have to delete the devices and re-add them every time.

Never had these issues with Windows 10. Latest Intel BT driver and Windows 11 21H2 build 22000.708 installed.

Anyone else experienced these issues before?

This is the only thing I found regarding a driver but it does not include Windows 11 4/17/22 Ubit Driver WIE7265 WiFi Card AC 1200Mbps
That card has been around for a long time so there is a good chance that the card is not WIndows 11 compatible. All I can suggest is to uninstall the BT adapter and its' drivers, restart, and then attempt to run the driver installer in compatibility mode. (right click on .exe file and choose compatibility)

The manufacturer of the product has a driver that also supports Windows 11 and yet I still experience these issues with it. Link below.

I had umpteen BT issues with my Dell XPS 2720 for a while - startup with no BT, random driver updates then vanishes, wouldn't find devices, couldn't connect to devices that it did find, and sometimes just fine...

The latest 2 builds seem to have solved it for me and it's been pretty solid since then.

Which builds do you mean?

Also, did you have similar issues as described in my opening post?

This build is fine - previous few to this had the bluetooth issue for me.

Sometimes the BT was not detected at all as an option - and removing the driver and rebooting would bring it back.... then a mysterious update would happen and it was gone again.... but since this build it's been fine. Mine I think was something to do with Killer Wireless

Too bad this version hasn't been released yet as a stable version. I noticed that when keeping Bluetooth ON, my described issue doesn't happen. It only occurs when disabling Bluetooth and turning it on again.

No harm in keeping it on always.

To prevent Windows Update replacing your working drivers, use the Windows Update Show/Hide Tool to hide (block) and unwanted updates. Yes, it works in Windows 11 too, I have done it. An alternative to use manufacturer's Bluetooth drivers is the BlueSoleil software, but this is not compatible with some apps (such as some mobile phone PC suites). Also I agree you don't have to switch off Bluetooth unless you are on an airplane, just restrict access to your computer.

Thing is, I have tried Windows' general drivers as well as the manufacturer's (Intel). None fixes this issue.

Not sure if someone has 8bitdo controllers here to test this out when turning BT off and on again.

You can avoid sleep. Just hibernate (I think it is also called suspend or deep sleep). It takes a few seconds more, but it could solve your problems.

I noticed the issues mentioned in my OP all happen when my 8bitdo controllers are paired to Windows after turning bluetooth OFF and ON again on my PC. Not something to do with sleep.

Tried deleting and reinstalling BT driver, controller drivers, troubleshooting, sfc /scannow, nothing helpt. 8Bitdo also can't reproduce this issue although many have this issue on Win11.

Why you disconnect (unpair) the device? Just switch it off. If the issue appears after switching off and back on the device, try removing it from the device list and connect again.

I'm not unpairing it. I simply just turn BT on my Windows device OFF (after turning the controllers off of course). The next time I turn BT ON there's a chance the already paired controllers show Driver error in the Device Manager.

Why switch off Bluetooth? Just leave it on. It doesn't use too much battery. If you are concerned about security, just configure your PC as not to be visible (discoverable) to new devices. If you want to pair a new device, make it discoverable again for a while, pair the new device and then make it invisible again. Not sure, but you might have to manually click connect your speakers each time if you make it invisible, haven't done it.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, no SSE4.2, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.

I know this can be solved by keeping BT enabled but this is merely a workaround. This issue wasn't present on Win10 when disabling BT. Hence me wondering if anyone knows how to fix this on Win11

I never turn my bluetooth off for any of my devices unless say I have my bluetooth headphones paired to my phone and PC and the Pc wont connect to
them because my phone has taken control of it. But actually then I just turn my phone bluetooth off and then it will connect to my PC. Whatever device consumes the bluetooth signal thing faffs me off at times because i have everything connected via bluetooth and the signal get controlled by one or another device and alot of times I have to unpair and reconnect.

If you manually click connect, PC takes control of the headphones. Then just make sure no sound is playing from the phone so as not to steal control. If you receive a call, control is on the phone again. The safest is to switch off Bluetooth on the phone. You also save battery.
