is a 27 second last boot time slow or normal for nvme ? fast boot makes no differences but a non cold boot is 12 seconds.

CPU, RAM and disk all play into boot time. It's not that slow of a boot time.

Also DVD burner, programs in startup, the logo of brand of the computer (and more) can slow boot.

Somewhere on Ten or Eleven forums, there's a tiny program-lette that will time how long it takes your comp to Restart.

Here's how you use the tool...
1. Follow the tutorial and run the Restart timer, and post your results.
2. Others will see your results and in the spirit of competition, will also run the tool.

Wait a sec...the tool seems to run weirdly on 24H2.... lemme check with @Brink

I just ran this... it gave me 113 seconds.
But using a stopwatch, I know my comp restarts in 39 seconds, from clicking restart, to back on the desktop.

As the tutorial states, you have to "unblock" the batch file before you run it.

I do too. And I typed the password incorrectly... the first time LOL
But my Windows drive is a 2.5" SATA SSD

I guess you can still use it as a comparison tool.

Seems pretty normal.

I'm not terribly hung up on my startup times, as I generally only startup the computer once, or twice on most days. When I setup a dual boot on my main desktop, ( Windows 10 is main OS, and Windows 11 is setup as a native vhdx boot), my startup time probably doubled. From power button process, it's about 10 seconds till i see my ROG Splash screen, then at 22 seconds my boot menu pops up, and at 28 seconds my desktop is up. On a windows restart, it's 41 seconds. That's booting into Windows 10.

On my Beelink mini PC, from power button press to login screen is 28 seconds. On a windows restart its 38 seconds. This machine is windows 11.

Houston there seems to be a problem. I can't find the stop watch on my smart phone.
Last time I timed this was on a $29 dumb flip phone. LOL

Hmmm... this may take a while. I'm still smart phone challenged.

Where's @Edwin ...he has the same phone I do.
It doesn't "seem" to be under "Clock"... or anywhere else.

I think I'll grab the flip phone and charge it.

If you meant UEFI (BIOS by old terms) - Fast Boot - i strongly recommend against it. Since Normal Boot - will run some compatibility/stability tests of your hardware - if disabled - will skip this tests and boot into Windows even your system is unstable. If there's any issue - it's better to be detected at Boot (easier to repair). Windows has BSOD as a safety measure - but more harm/damage can be done till a BSOD gets triggered.

If you meant Windows fast startup - actually recommend this set to Disabled - since Windows won't Shutdown properly with it Enabled (only Restart can do that).

Use Windows Search and look for Startup Apps - disable/unpick everything

Win Key + R opens run console - type/copy here msconfig - click on Services - > click on Hide All Microsoft Services (left corner) and for the remaining Disable all (in right corner)

Click Ok and Restart. How fast does it Boot Now (tho, ignore UEFI/BIOS Boot - and count only after that).
