I click at the bottom left where there my account with a drawing of me then the next screen click OK.

So you have 3 accounts, 2 don't work, the account with your image does and all you need to do is click OK?

How do you get in to the Admin and other Trevor account, or you can't?

Confusing is a word I'd use also, Trevor.

I am at a loss of where to go from here:

A) About how to Auto login with a local account
B) How you ended up with two extra accounts that you don't use or didn't create.

There are many here that are a lot more switched on with Windows than I am. I'm hoping to be rescued (hoping you are rescued)

Is “Trevor” (with the image) An Admin Account or a User Account?

At this point, all I can suggest is to make sure “Trevor” is an admin account, then remove the other two accounts.
I have read as much as I can without sticking knitting needles into my eyeballs. I got lost.

If Trevor (With the image) doesn’t need a password to sign in, I can’t see how Auto login would work.
I am not exactly sure how to go about assigning a username/password to an account that doesn’t have one.

After you check you are an admin and remove the other two accounts, you might need to create yet another Admin account (making sure to create a user/pass) and transfer your Profile to it. This I do not know how to do, others do as I have read their replies. Nothing I would link you to without confusing you even furthur.

To make sure “Trevor”(with the picture) is an admin, or change “Trevor” to an admin account

Don’t remove the wrong accounts.

It SEEMS to be now booting to the desktop. Not aware I';ve done anything apart from tick the box that says user has to log in, then not input details as I have none then untick that box. I've restarted and I've closed down and restarted and both times it booted to the desktop.

If you have a local account, and on the next screen it doesn't ask for a password, just has a 'Sign in' button, then you are using a local account with no password (as I do).

That is consistent with having a local account with no password, as is not being able to set a PIN (you need a password before you can do that). If so, you can go straight to the desktop without needing to use Netplwiz.

Open Settings, go to Accounts > Sign-in options. Under Additional Settings, click on the If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again? option and choose Never. BUT there's a catch. You will only see that option if your account as a password. You need to temporarily set a password so that you can change the option to 'Never'.

Once set you can remove the password and the setting will remain in place.

Start a Command Prompt as Admin type
Net User and press Enter.
this will list all of the Users on this computer.

You can also Go to Search and type netplwiz and press enter
What accounts are listed here?

If you don't have Home version of Windows you can also go to the Advanced Tab and under Advanced User Management click the Advanced button. Windows Home versions will not allow this option.
Click the Users folder.
To show a list of all of the Users on the computer.

You can also go to Search and type sysdm.cpl and press Enter. go to the Advanced tab
Under User Profiles click the Settings Button.
You can select any user profile you don't want and and click Delete button.
You cannot delete the user profile you are logged into. You should also not delete the Hidden Administrator account.

the Administrator account is the baked in OS Admin. leave that alone.

(this happens upon reboot, typically, if you have UNchecked the netplwiz box and applied certain windows updates)
*to fix it, log into the 'Trevor' account with a user image, run netplwiz, check the box, reboot, then login again and you can UNcheck the netplwiz box again*

the 'Trevor' with an image is your actual user account

if you don't have a password, then the auto login to your desktop upon boot would only be inhibited by the lock screen (which shouldn't happen upon boot... only after a timeout)
