Hello,

I've been running into an issue with my HP Spectre 14-ef2xxx for the past 2 months where my laptop will no longer go to sleep when the lid is closed or screen is dormant but it'll instead shut down entirely. I've also noticed the laptop battery will be drained completely when asleep for a day and disconnected from AC power, I haven't had this issue before. I have checked my power and battery settings to ensure closing the lid or inactivity isn't set to shutting down the PC.

The PC will also freeze occasionally when attempting to wake up, forcing me to manually turn off/on with the power button and I've received 5 BSOD events in the past week with the stop code DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. I've checked my network adapter drivers to ensure they're up to date but I'm at a loss for what to do next.

I'd appreciate any help the community is able to provide and I apologize if I haven't included any relevant information or committed a faux pas on my first post.

Thank you.

There were a very large number of BSOD during the 30 day Windows installation.

1) What is the laptop's warranty status?

2) Update the HP UEFI Hardware diagnostics: 10.3.2.0 > 10.7.0.0

Overnight run: system > extensive > loop until error > the next day if it has made two or more loops > click esc > take pictures > post images or share

links displaying the tests performed with results

3) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

4) Run HD Sentinel (all drives) > post share links
a) Overview
b) Temperature
c) SMART

5) See if you can uninstall Mullvad VPN 2025.2.0 for 3 - 7 days and monitor for BSOD
If you must run a VPN then uninstall and reinstall the software > comment into this thread

mullvadwireguard MullvadWireGuard c:\windows\system32\drivers\mullvad-wireguard.sys
