Hello, I upgraded today from 22621.819 to 22621.900 and discovered two bugs. One is that the on-screen keyboard appears at the middle of the screen and cannot be moved! The other is that the Task Manager is in dark theme and there is no option in Task Manager settings to change it to the light theme unless you change Windows in light theme in Personalization. The problem is that I set Windows to dark theme (and applications to light theme) so the icons on my blue taskbar appear white. If I set Windows to light theme the icons on the taskbar appear black and is rather ugly. Is there any way to set Task Manager to light theme independently of the Windows global theme? I remind you that there is jo such option in Task Manager settings. What about a Registry tweak? How can I fix the unmovable on-screen keyboard?

Yes, this is a known bug that was previously seem in the Beta channel Insider build. There Task Manager was later given a settings option to ignore the theme settings and set its own independently.

It is completely unforgivable that Microsoft knowingly included this broken version of Task Manager in a cumulative update intended for the mass market. Especially as there is a known fixed version they could have included.

Task manager dark problem

For some reason my task manager is all dark. How do I make it look normal (light) again? Windows 11 x64 22H2 with Windows Update KB5020044 (29 november 2022, KB5020044 (OS-build 22621.900) Preview) installed.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

It worked. I restored the old Task Manager (21H2) with the above method and now it is light theme. I prefer it over the newer 22H2 because it has the same familiar interface with Windows Vista and higher. The new Task Manager has the buttons at different places and takes some time to get used to. I might enable the new Task Manager again if they fix the 22621.900 build bug (dark theme). Please let me know of any workarounds for the unmovable on-screen keyboard bug.

I just checked with my main computer (see 2nd system specs). The on-screen keyboard works perfectly there. I can move it around where I want. The bug appears only in my hybrid laptop/tablet Fujitsu Stylistic Q702. Before you ask, yes the on-screen keyboard is undocked so normally I should be able to move it where I want. But it appears at the center of the screen and cannot be moved making me type blindly without being able to see what I am typing. Any idea?
