One can install on incompatible hardware using methods you can easily find by searching the web or by doing an advanced search in this forum search function. That said, that device came out 15 years ago. IMO, chances of all the old drivers working without issue in 11 is slim. You would be better served using Windows 10.

Whether drivers are available, I can't guess. The most recent OS that Dell supports on it was Win7 X64. Maybe getting it to work under 11 would be a fun hobby endeavor.

Max ram is 8gb probably has 4gb. The cpu is a duo core 2.4ghz. I'd upgrade the ram

I don't recommend putting 11 on that old laptop, even if it is physically possible.

My recommendation has nothing to do with legality. I have no idea how many people are running 11 on unsupported hardware, but, as far as I know, no one has received as much as a cease-and desist letter from MS's attorneys.

Edit, later: This post may seem slightly odd. It was made in response to a post that has since been removed. I thank the moderator(s) for getting rid of the offensive and erroneous post.

In my experience Windows 11 can be installed and will run on almost anything, no matter how far below spec. Anything that can run 64 bit Windows 10 can run Windows 11.

It certainly can (and does) run well on a Dell E4310, it's my System Two in my specs below. It was upgraded from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro 21H2 in 2021, and the next year upgraded to 22H2. Both unsupported upgrades were achieved by replacing appraiserres.dll with a zero byte dummy file of the same name.

I've recently upgraded its RAM from 4GB to 8GB, mostly so that I can use it to run VirtualBox VMs comfortably. It still had only 4GB when I used it to make the screenshots for this tutorial: Testing Macrium Reflect restore using VirtualBox virtual machine Tutorial

That was pushing it a bit too far for comfort, but with 8GB it now runs VirtualBox with ease. It would run even better if I ever get round to upgrading its HDD for an SSD :lmao:

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).
