The answer to your question is 2-fold. Two different major changes come into play and as usual MS has made it as confusing as possible..

MS announced earlier this year that we could no longer use their email accounts using any email app on any device if we had those accounts set up as pop or imap which uses basic authentification. Users using these protocols began losing access 9/16/24.
That part is addressed here. Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps - Microsoft Support

MS also announced that the Mail and Calendar app would be killed off and completely replaced by Outlook (new) by the end of the year. 23h2 users got the new outlook earlier this year so users could begin using it before the mail and calendar app was completely deprecated. If you are running 23h2 look in your all apps list. If it's not there, your can download the new outlook app from the MS store. Search for "Outlook for Windows"
That is addressed here. Windows Mail, Calendar and People are becoming Outlook - Microsoft Support

Letters were sent out to all users regarding both these changes.
.
In a nutshell, MS will no longer allow you (1)to set up one of their email accounts in an app that does not support modern authentification, nor (2)do they any longer accept any email account set up as pop/imap on any device in any app, as these type accounts use basic authentification, even if using their own old mail/calendar app which is soon to be gone and certain versions of Outlook in MSOffice.

I know it's confusing and clear as mud but it is what it is. There's another thread here that discussed this.

Hello, iwant to add an account to my calendar, the one that come with the MAIL app

What do you mean add an account to your “Calendar”?

Can you explain the issue clearly by typing in your own native language in Google translator and post the result here, please? 🙏

You can not add “Calendars” in Windows Mail as far as I know, you can add email accounts though. But as Ms. Glasskuter said, Windows mail is soon to be removed and replaced with the “New Outlook”

In the Mail App go to Accounts > Manage accounts >

Click on Gmail > Change mailbox sync settings > Toggle Calendar ON > Done > Save.

You may see some small text towards the top which says "fixing account..." or something like that.

Then go to the Calendar > Gmail V (expand) and you should see the usual coloured tick box display options.

The Add calendar bit at the bottom just results in a whirly dots thing going nowhere.

I last updated the Mail & Calendar App on 27 Sept and about 15 mins before posting, obviously via MS Store.

The point is to try and help the users question, the successor App may require similar actions.
