I have a w11 pro PC with 3 accounts. 2 are local and one is an MS (outlook.com) account. I just tried to switch to the MS account and I cannot actually type the password. I brought up the onscreen keyboard and it doesn't actually put what's typed into the password box. I rebooted and I still have the same problem.
Both local accounts work fine. TO BE CLEAR, when I type no characters show up in password box. I can tab around and hit enter to 'forgot password' or whatever.
Latest changes: Added veracrypt encryption, changed from a wireless to wired mouse. Other than that....nothing.

I just tabbed around and 'forgot password' It asked me for the rescue email address and I was able to type. I went through the steps and cancelled out and it logged me in.

⁉️❓⁉️

EDIT: I logged in and messed around, switched to another use, tried to log back into the MS account and the same problem happens. I cannot type in the password box.

Any chance you have disabled TextInputManagementService or ctfmon.exe?

Still, if you have a phone, you could use MS Authenticator to login.

Would this affect 1 out of 3 accounts?

Just a thought: Does Veracrypt have an option NOT TO DISPLAY passwords?

I don't think so but only 1 account is having problems. The other 2 are fine. Very weird.

You may have tried all/some of these, but I'll put them out there in case it is of use to you or someone else in the future:

Check the security settings inside your Microsoft Account:

FWIW: My MS Account is password less with MFA. I use Windows Hello (facial recognition) to logon to my PC.

I went into security and it said 'only allow windows hello login' It was on so I turned it off.

On my laptop I use a numeric pin 55443332222 or whatever
On the other problem PC I'm almost positive I was using my regular password like I would use to login to webmail th!sisN07mypassword.
For some reason, on the problem PC the login had changed to the numberic only pin so when I started typing my alpha password it seemed like no keystrokes were showing up.

I don't know why it changed...almost positive I was using alpha numeric logins. I did change the Hello part though. I really don't know if that changed something.

I know you tried turning off windows hello and still have the issue. Try turning it back on and try this and see if resetting the pin works. Windows hello can be used even on a local account and is more secure than a regular password for accounts. Since your using veracrypt encryption I assume you want to be better protected from attacks.

I am seeing quite a lot of bug reports for veracrypt encryption, it might be better to use bitlocker and see if the issue goes away. It's possible microsoft accounts don't play nice with other encryption methods due to them being much more secure than local accounts.

It's working. I don't know what happened, and I really don't care to find out exactly what happened.

I can't get bitlocker to work on the problem PC. Tried a bunch of fixes and just gave up.

If you keep having a ton of issues, might want to try a repair install
