@antspants - I have heard that Australia has like dangerous and poisonous things like spiders but snakes too?!?!

On my property I have snakes everywhere, some of the most dangerous in the world. 2 weeks ago, as I was sitting where I am now, outside typing away on this forum, an Eastern Brown snake (knowingly deadly) quietly slithered its way to about 24” from my feet. I thought it was leaves blowing across the stones. I looked up just in time to crap my pants and head inside. At the same time, it was startled and thankfully slithered the other way.

Like I said, I have snakes everywhere. In the garage sometimes. All over the place. I even have one that lives by my mailbox and one in my front stairs.

But yes, like I always say “Australia, where everything can kill you and something probably will”

My little green friends here, passive usually, but the Green Tree snake actually has potent poison. People underestimate them.

The BT is off because the BT keyboard is turned off.

Just received my new cable. It's a Cat 7 flat cable and is installed. The little clip that snaps in the socket at the
notebooks RJ connector was broken so, not just a feel good replacement but a needed one.

So are you connected directly to your router? Because if you’re plugging a cat7 into a wall socket that has a 5e cat cable running to the router, I have some bad news.

Yes you have, not sure if I replied. I also LOVE winter and much prefer it to Australian summers when it can be a most uncomfortable, often upward of 40 deg Celsius (104 Fahrenheit)
Some reasons why I love winter;
- It’s easier to warm up than it is to cool down
- Mens fashion; In summers here, you have shorts and shirts, in winter, you can go all out with fantastic pants/tops/wonderful jackets and scarfs. maybe a little Kajal for that Bollywood look lol (I like to dress up

)

My wife, the Canadian, came to Australia because of the ridiculous, and I mean ridiculous, temperatures Canada can drop to below zero. Crazy stuff. But the snow, I would love the snow.

Yes but, we have good clothing for that. You can hardly feel the cold in a Canada Goose parka:

Mine is a Snow Goose with a full Gor Tex lining which is / was the parent company of Canada Goose and primarily aimed at
the Armed Forces. I bought it back in 89 and it is still the warmest to date. I don't think I'd like to pay the price they go for today

I can install low voltage lighting etc, 12v. But I can’t legally install any type of cabling in wall cavities, ceilings, under floorboards. I suppose it might have something to do with existing electrical cables and safety. But yeah, all Govt’s suck regardless. And I mean All.

Non PoE is lower than that (for the most part - I did find some reference to really old standards that had a peak of 13V, but for the most part it was around 2.5V) lol. And the cables are shielded, you're not running CatX to connect to power lines of any type.

PoE, though, does have ~44V, IIRC, on the lines, but that is it.

So, yeah, that regulation of a homeowner not being able to run their own Ethernet in walls is bogus.

Because wall cavities have electrical wiring running through them, regardless that Cat cables are insulated. If a novice was to snag and pull on an electrical wire, this without doubt could cause catastrophic issues.
The Govt here has done things in the past to protect the home owner from insurance companies that like to take us for a ride. Making it very clear that for a novice to go passing cables up through a wall is something that they can not stop an insurance company from denying a claim for.
If a faulty light switch has caused a house fire, and it is proven that a home owner passed CAT cabling up past or anywhere near that switch, it would be fair for the insurance company to say “You probably caused this”
Yes, it’s bogus, yes, all Govt’s suck. But not as much as insurance companies do.

I was commenting on the following:

I was saying that it is naive to think that the government always protects us from insurance companies. We have no way of knowing what the governments interests are. For all we know the government is in bed with the insurance companies. In reality we have to look out for ourselves because we are the only ones that really care.
