This tutorial will show you how to change the background image on the New Tab page in Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
The Microsoft Edge web browser is based on Chromium and was released on January 15, 2020. It is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS. With speed, performance, best in class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features.
When you open the new tab page in Microsoft Edge, it shows the Bing daily image by default.
When you have background turned on for the Edge new tab page, you can change the new tab page background to any image or video background you want.
Here's How:
1 Open Microsoft Edge.
2 Perform either action below to open a new tab: (see screenshot below)
- Press the Ctrl + T keys.
- Click/tap on the New tab button (+).
- Right click on a tab, and click/tap on New tab to the right.
3 Perform either action below to edit the background: (see screenshots below)
- Right click on the background of the New Tab page, and click/tap on Edit background.
- Click/tap on the Page settings (gear) button at the top right corner, and click/tap on Edit background.
4 Turn on Background. (see screenshot below)
5 Do step 6 (daily), step 7 (select), or step 8 (custom) below for what you want.
6 Use New Bing Daily Backgrounds on Edge New Tab Page
This is the default setting.
A) Scroll down in the "Customize background" dialog, and turn on Change new background daily. (see screenshot below)
B) Under Video settings, click/tap on Energy Saver or Balanced (default) for what you want.
C) Close (X) the "Customize background" dialog when finished.
8 Select Image or Video Background to Use on Edge New Tab Page
This will turn off the Change new background daily setting.
A) In the "Customize background" dialog, select an available image or video background you want. (see screenshot below)
If you already uploaded a custom image, it will be available to select from here.
B) Close (X) the "Customize background" dialog when finished.
7 Upload and Use Custom Image Background on Edge New Tab Page
This will turn off the Change new background daily setting.
A) In the "Customize background" dialog, click/tap on Upload image in the "Background" section. (see screenshots below)
B) Navigate to and select the .jpeg, .jpg, or .png image you want to use, and click/tap on Open.
C) Close (X) the "Customize background" dialog when finished.
