How can I do a system image?

I have Windows 11 home on a new Asus laptop without DVD/CD player, only one hard disk but with one tera capacity. Only few programs and files, including the Microsoft office paid suite. Total 140 Gigabytes, so plenty of free room on the hard disk.

I would like to use a bootable USB or my free online storage account in Terabox, not an external drive.

I could create an image with TODO backup free and save it on my laptop C; drive and then upload it to my Terabox account?

Other better ways to proceed?

Hi, welcome.

I can’t see how uploading an image would help much because when restoring the image, it would need to be done from a secondary drive. So having one would be preferable. Not that I am saying it wouldn’t work.

Perhaps creating a Partition on your main drive would work, remembering NOT to include that partition in the OS (C Drive) image backup.

Someone else would need to assist with that.

That would be similar to oem recovery partition. Useful in some situations but it wont be any use if the disk fails.

best saving image to a different storage media.

Also, I am not sure you can save an image to the same drive you are imaging. Again, a secondary partition of about 200GB might help

I totally agree with you. But I am assuming from the post, the OP might have difficulties obtaining one for whatever reason, maybe financial.

Whatever you use, you can't save the image to the same partition that you are making an image of. An extremal drive ore another partition on the same drive (one that is not being backed up) is the usual choice.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.
