Hi

First of all, I do not know which forum category to post this.

I am using windows 11 24H2 and all seems to be working well, however one thing that I have noticed is that my display device (a TV), the section of windows that sets the resolution and my graphics card - all seem to "fight" to control the screen resolution. I first noticed it a while back (probably a few months ago) - when my TV receives a signal from the computer it displays in the upper right corner of the screen the input type (in this case TV) and the resolution. I noticed that it would display resolution then after a few seconds display another one, and then eventually show the desktop in whatever resolution. This is made all the more difficult because my TV insists on AUTO ADJUSTING the PC input signal so no matter what the resolution is will always fit on the screen. I cannot find how to turn off this auto adjust setting on the TV. A few times when the desktop displays I have noticed that the picture seems to be bigger than the screen, to fix that I go to my graphics card settings, choose a resolution and then apply and it comes right. Thinking that I may have a resolution in the windows settings that doesnt match the resolution setting for my graphics card - I made sure that both "settings" are set at the same resolution. The picture being bigger than the screen seems to happen far less now, but it does happen, however I often notice that the resolution displayed at startup and then a few seconds later are different. This is no real problem because if the screen is cut off, I can fix it, but normally my TV auto adjusts so there are no visible problems. I'm thinking that on the times that the screen has been cut off that the auto adjust of the TV hasn't auto adjusted, but anyway I don't understand what is happening, perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

"A few times when the desktop displays I have noticed that the picture seems to be bigger than the screen,"

That is overscan function of a TV, but not a "proper" PC monitor.

It is very easy to get things wrong with a TV used as a monitor.

You have to go through all the TV settings, in conjunction with the manual, they often use different expressions as well. It should save the settings for each selected input and should save the last selection before it is switched off.
You normally have to stop any "auto" stuff.

Some TV has a "PC" input mode. My old Toshiba (maybe 10 years old) does have the PC input mode. You might want to check that out. You have to use the right input to get the correct output. Since it is not a proper monitor, the TV will just always be in "at best" mode adjusting itself to the source.

Thanks for all the input and advice guys, Ive had a busy busy day and have only got back to my PC now.

The make and model of the TV is Digimark DGM32D1

In the future I will be connecting my PC to my TV via HDMI cable - I just cannot afford to buy a PC monitor at the moment. Hopefully the future is soon, like a few days away.

Digimark is a cheap Chinese brand of TV. They do not have a Web page or presence. So no manual to download to help you. Or support or Forum page to consult
You should be able to poke around the Menu on the TV and view Resolution to solve your problem.

Yes I'd use a HDMI cable. I've been using TVs as monitors for the last 15 years. I'm using a 43 inch 4k TV right now. $178 delivered. I don't know what's to gain by having a "real pc monitor".

How are you connecting the PC to the TV now?

The DGN32D1 has a VGA port.
