I have been bouncing around between patch my pc and winget and really like them. I also Heard update hub and Ucheck are good as well.

Just was curious what you guys do to keep your software patched at home?

Just recently got into winget the last time I installed Windows. Worked a treat, so now I have scripts for work when I need to install a set of apps on a PC the first time I use it.

I’ve done Patch My PC implementations in a couple orgs. Software is pretty nice, and the folks behind the company are great. (Not a paid endorsement, just a product and company I like.)

I used to be your typical hopper. I've even sadistically setup LFS and Arch. I use Mint as my daily driver, I bounce between Parrot (red teaming), Remnux (malware forensics) and SansSift for general forensic work

Forgot Windows...
Gaming of course, lightroom and photoshop for photography and my drumming software

If yiou are asking why I do not use an updater, the main reaon is "They are a solution to a probem that I do not have".

Virtually all quality tools have an option to check for updates (some automatic via a service or Task Scheduler - personally I turn these off).

I bet "none" covers well over 85+% of users. I have no real evidence to support this assertion, other than saying I do not know of anybody personally who uses such tools.

I handle enough family and friends pcs, and pretty sure I would be aware if such tools were in use.

Sure, but its manual one at a time. I mean if you want to update your software manually that's of course up to you. I added a none option.

It's important for security reasons for software to be kept up to date, So I try to make things easier for myself and users who I help to keep things up to date.

Patch my pc makes the process automatic for the apps it supports which helps a lot.

Thats fair. You can exclude programs like these from updating automatically for the program itself or just let you know if there are updates without installing them. But things like browsers, 7 zip, vlc etc I think its worth it.

I've tried several different ones. Was using UniGet for a while, but for some reason it just stopped working and would not find anything to update. Switched to PatchMyPC and been happy ever since.

Even if I am alerted by the software itself that the is an update, I cancel it and download it from the vendor directly.

Used to love Sumo, but she's gone. I've switched to UCheck, but update manually, not via the program. It just let's me know something is available.

i used to install a handful of things with ninite and would use that to keep things updated. These days, I honestly don't update a whole lot. My games update their own. My browsers automatically update. Other things like Macrium throw a pop-up when new updates are available, but i am probably 10 revisions back or something at this point on Macrium because I don't use it all that often.

I do run Windows update regularly and let it keep my system up to date.

I am usually on top of my software updates but for the ones I may miss Glary Utilities has a pretty good software updater built in.

None needed here. I never have been one to install stuff just for the sake of trying something out nor keep stuff I don't regularly use. I'm a firm believer in portable software whenever possible. Compared to most others here, my needs are simple.
My paid softwares updates themselves except for several older ones that no longer gets updates so update is turned off.
