See the attached picture of my recycle bin icon. The little widget in the top left corner has just appeared. Clicking on it does nothing, it just sits there.

Does anyone know what it is? Nothing I do gets rid of it.

When I just did a Google Reverse Image search, I did get a 100% identical icon to the one posted by @Catnip which is from 2016 or 8+ years ago but the answers were useless:

Using my enhanced image, I found this. It seems to confirm it's a 'Flash Fill' icon that's been left there by Excel. If so, it's covering up whatever is in the top left corner. If Catnip moves the recycle bin icon this 'intruder' should stay where it is. If it does, then that confirms it's not part of the Recycle bin icon, just a spurious image left there by something else, most likely Excel, that just happens to overlap the recycle bin.

First of all, thank you to all that answered. This was a puzzler, for sure.

I accidentally solved it this morning by shutting down Excel, as @Almighty1 suggested and the little thing went away. I have never seen that before and I was wondering if it was something sinister or not. I am glad to see that it is just some MS weirdness.
