This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off allowing the Microsoft Photos app to run in the background at startup for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Starting with the Microsoft Photos app version 2024.11080.30001.0 in Windows 10/11, you can now allow Microsoft Photos app to run in the background at startup to improve performance.

Microsoft Photos September 2024 update for Windows 10 and 11 Insiders
Windows Blogs: Hello Windows Insiders, Today we are beginning to roll out a Microsoft Photos app update to Windows Insiders on Windows 11 across all Insider Channels and then to Windows Insiders on Windows 10 in the Beta and Release Preview Channels. Not all Insiders will see this update right...

Here's How:
1 Open the Photos app.
2 Click/tap on the Settings (gear) icon at the top. (see screenshot below)
If you do not see the Settings (gear) icon, then click/tap on the See more (3 dots) button and click/tap on Settings.
3 Under Personalization settings, turn on (default) or off Performance for what you want.
That's it,
Shawn Brink
