Solved Enforce Child Hours?

As per my earlier post. Just do this.

  1. Press Win+R, then type gpedit.msc.
  2. Under User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Logon Options, click on Set Action to take when logon hours expire.
  3. Choose Enabled, then set the action to Lock or Logoff, depending on your needs.
I just did it - it's really easy. It only affects users when you have set net use... time limits.

I looked at that earlier, but couldn't see which user it was applying to? Will have another look later once home.... Thanks.

It will apply to any user for whom you have set limits using net user use type commands. It does not work on admin accounts. It won't lock you out.

Set to 'lock' rather than 'logout' so she does not lose any work.

Perfect, thanks...... I guess it's just a case of running the net user command again to change the hours? They'll be curtailed again when she's back to school next week....

Yes. Save the commands in a text file so you can use them again.

Restrict internet for specific hours on the router, there is not much to do on a computer or on a phone without the internet.
There's a funny way to do this if your home will allow you.

Put the kid on a low data plan that basically expires within days of their use. Then turn off the house wifi each night before you go to sleep. If you have to unplug the plug each night and stick it under your pillow, voila. If you're tech savvy you can buy a plug that has a timer on it, that shuts off after 11PM and turns the Wifi back on at 8AM. One catch -- kid can't have access to this outlet.

Ah, back to square one! Children are here simply to keep you on your toes and spend all your money..... looks like MS account then..,.
I suppose that it must be worse to have a stupid child than a smart one. (I'm childless.)

There are obvious drawbacks to the latter, though. ;-)

Yeah, this is the girl who taught herself the basics of reading watching phonics videos on YouTube at 18 months old, and could basically read anything (and understand it) by the age of 3, so I'm pretty much up against it....

You don't need to buy anything else, every bit of control is at his fingertips.
