Open This PC, click on the Windows drive (C: ) and then select Cleanup from the tools. Click the button to also show advanced options. Make sure you delete Windows Update data. Restart and search for updates again. This is to eliminate any obsolete updates, that is updates no longer needed because newer updates are installed that already contain the changes. Trying to install obsolete updates gives you errors. Another cause might be that a certain update is corrupt and fails. Clearing update data and forcing Windows Update to retrieve them again fixes the issue.
