I wanted to get a few opinions on this, Intel ME has security flaws and some people even want to overwrite their bios so they can disable the Intel ME for more security. BUT it appears that if I receive my ethernet through the USB with a USB ethernet adaptor, that no ME can be used when I receive the www in this way. That only the onboard ethernet has the ability to communicate with the Intel ME chip. So that must mean that Intel ME and the Ethernet port have hardware in common that allow communication. And if so if I wish to "plug" this security hole, Getting WWW access via USB is the way to fix this security problem.

Intel IME is a separate processor which is integrated to your PC's motherboard, independent of the CPU. It can use any network interface on the motherboard to communicate.

Ethernet over USB is terrible for performance. It works if you don't have other options, but isn't recommended. Most of the time you can disable Intel AMT from your motherboard's BIOS settings.

TL;DR
You don't need to do anything.

"What is AMT (or, what Intel calls it, vPRO)?

Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) is a hardware and microprogram technology for remote non-belong (Out-OF-BAND) personal computers management. It allows someone else to control, maintain, update, modernize and repair the computer. Outbreaks (OOB) or hardware control differs from software (or In-Band) control and software management agents."

Intel VPRO is a platform (a set of technological functions), focused on the business segment of the market that implements remote management technologies.

For example, if you found a corporate laptop somewhere and want to explore its contents.
Otherwise, it could be remotely formatted or even blown up.

If your computer supports this and you do not need remote access, then turn off.
