Hi, I use Eudora 7.1 for POP3 mail and for a while I can't send mail. I get an error.
Don't ask me to change Eudora because I can't.
Up until a month ago I could do everything, now I can only receive mail but not send it.
Can you please check if my configuration is correct?
Thank you!

From what I have been reading some antivirus app can cause issues.

I also found this which could be worth a try

The Firewall Control program is not logging any restrictions on Eudora messaging.
On checking Eudora options under Tools / Options / Checking Mail, I noted that the 'Secure Sockets when Receiving' option was set to 'If Available, STARTTLS' As noted on other emails in the Email forum, PN doesn't yet support SSL encryption on POP3 messaging, so I amended the parameter to 'Never'

I also used Eudora many years ago now

Try changing the SMTP settings from STARTTLS to SSL/TLS and the port to 465
If that fails set to never as my fellow Aussie rob010au mentions. Or “AUTO” if it’s available. or try “Never” first. But not sure that’s very secure.

If it doesn't change anything, change them back to what they were and call their support or create a ticket..

I’ve never used this em client, if I have to I’ll install it but it would be better that you created a ticket at tin.it
Also, I don’t have a tin.it account so I’d have to use a personal domain. If it’s an issue at tin.it then my doing so wont help you.

Also, welcome to the forum 🙏

Scroll down to Eudora for Windows (versions 5.1 to 7.1 inclusive)

Try this suggestion. Could be daunting if you’re a beginner (I don’t know)
If you’re not confident, don’t try. Call or create a ticket.

You are all wonderful people. I don't know how to thank you for your help.
Unfortunately I'm not an expert, even though I have been using PC for many years.
I inform that in Checking Mail/'Secure Sockets when Receiving' I see "never". So my Eudora is configured well in this respect.
I also inform that I have other accounts with Eudora. I have gmail.com, gmx.com, yahoo.com and they all work fine. I only have problems with tin.it. A curiosity: in "User Name" should I put the complete email or just "alvmo"? I ask this because a long time ago tin.it worked well only with "alvmo"
Thanks again.

The settings really should be matching this.

The setting of NEVER for the SMTP was just something you could try, but really it should STARTTLS

Anyway I have to tell you Incoming mails works only with "Never".

Saying never means that you don’t have a secure incoming port for mail. But that is up to you.

Firstly, write down the current settings so you do not forget them.
For “Outgoing” mail, try the following one by one and test each time trying to send mail.
You can click on each setting with a box around it to copy it to your clipboard and paste into the settings so you don’t mistype:

Change the SMTP server to read smtp.tin.it
Change the secure socket from STARTTLS to SSL/TLS
Change the port to 465, if you can’t, untick “Use Submission Port (587)”

Change the SMTP server to read mail.tin.it
Change the secure socket from STARTTLS to SSL/TLS
Change the port to 465, if you can’t, untick “Use Submission Port (587)”

Change the SMTP server to read secure.tin.it
Change the secure socket to STARTTLS
Tick “Use Submission Port (587)”

Change the SMTP server to read mail.tin.it
Change the secure socket to “Never”
Change the Submission Port to 25
Untick “Authentication allowed”

There are many more variations but I just woke up. If none of the above work, change the settings back to what they were originally.

2 more things:

1. Consider calling them or creating a ticket. (I personally think it is their server as the SSL negotiation is failing)
2. Why is it that you “Have to” use Eudora? is it something to do with the PST file? Explain to me so I can help?

I thank you for your help, but none of your suggestions work. However I can't even choose SSL/TLS because I don't have that option.
I want to use Eudora because I can configure it in this way: look at the pic.
Have a goiod day!
