Solved File Explorer - Sort Options (regardless of file type)

Is it possible to have file explorer to sort the contents of a folder only by name regardless if the contents are a document or a folder?

When i select to sort by Name it always separates by type ie listing the folder and then listing the documents.

I have folders and documents named as dates and I want then to all be listed in order ie 2023, 2024.

Sort>group by>date modified
then you can click sort again select ascending or descenting

Thank you for responding. But i still have the same issue. The folders and documents are in order, but still separated with the folders listed first then the documents.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of any way to do what you want, at least not in an unmodified File Explorer window. It may require a third-party tool of some sort, either one that will modify the behavior of File Explorer or a substitute for File Explorer.

Even if you group by Date Modified, it will still group folders together and files together. It won't display folders and files interspersed.

    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

Right click Group by Name, sorts alphabetically files and folders that starts on same letter umder same, that's the only way i know about.
