The userChrome.css file has to be IN the Chrome folder.

This is what you "need" in the Chrome folder...



The... my_userChrome.css file is called by the regular userChrome.css file.
It's just a handy place to add code, so you don't have to go through that huge list.

And the file named userContent.css ...and the folders called: conig, css and image are all required for the userChrome.css (and if added the my_userChrome.css), files to function.




It's easier just to start with the Chrome 4.20.zip file in the 1st post of the Ten Forums topic.
Then change whatever you want.


You can also just get the latest version from GitHub...

And just create a file called: my_userChrome.css ...and put your code in there.








Here's MY Chrome folder... <---------- good place to start, until you get the hang of it.

The easiest way to do this... is just use MY Chrome folder. Sort of like a tutorial.
Then, if there's a tweak in there you don't like... just disable it.


Then, once you get the hang of it... just delete my Chrome folder, and you'll be right back to stock Firefox, ready for YOUR tweaks. Go to Github and grab the latest Chrome folder version and have your way with Firefox.







For example...

Here's an example of the options for the Hamburger button in the userChrome.css file
I've bolded the description for what each line... does.
The lines with the RED dots are "enabled" or turned ON.
Any line with a /* and a space at the beginning... doesn't get read. It's disabled.



The 1st RED dot "hides" the Hamburger button. Enabling this line... disables the Hamburger button.
The 2nd RED dot "shows" icons on the Hamburger button popup, if the Hamburger button was enabled.
The 3rd RED dot makes those icons "colorized", if the Hamburger button was enabled.

The 1st RED dot over-rides the 2nd and 3rd RED dots. So if I disabled the line with the 1st RED dot,
the lines with the 2nd and 3rd RED dots would be active on the Hamburger button popup.

FWIW - when saving files in Notepad, it's best to change the file type to all files, so that when you can save a file with a name like abc.123 Notepad doesn't helpfully make it abc.123.txt because it is set by default to save files as type Text.

Using windows 11 22h2 latest and firefox latest as of today 5-13-2023
I dont even remember what script etc I used but I had my toolbar and tabs both at the bottom of firefox and they sat on top of my windows 11 taskbar perfectly. Well the firefox update today broke whatever i did, Now im on a mission to get them back to the bottom of my screen. Can anyone help me?

Ok... the easiest way to get the tabs to the bottom is like this...

Delete the Chrome folder you're using now.
Use my Chrome folder 4.20 below.
Unzip and then put my Chrome folder in this folder...
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default-release

Now... MY Chrome folder is set to have tabs under the address bar (RED box)
You will need to change that to under the... "main content" ...(BLUE box)

All these edits are located in the userChrome.css file, that's located in the Chrome folder.

When a line starts with @import, the line is "enabled".
When a line starts with /* @import, the line is "disabled".

So you need to disable the line in the RED box, and enable the line in the BLUE box.





Now to get the "Toolbar" at the bottom, I believe you'll have to "enable" one of these lines (BLUE box).
You'll have to experiment, to see which line does the trick. Only enable one of these lines.
Each time you edit the userChrome.css file, you need to restart Firefox to see the changes.




You can read through the userChrome.css file and change whatever you want.
Just edit the beginning of the line as shown...

When a line starts with @import, the line is "enabled".

Every time you open Firefox... it "reads" the Chrome folder and the userChrome.css file.
It only uses the "enabled" lines, in the userChrome.css file. It skips all the other lines.


MY Chrome folder's userChrome.css file is set to look like this. You can edit any of the lines in the userChrome.css file that's located in the Chrome folder. So you can make Firefox look like whatever you want.



It takes a little bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, you can pretty much make Firefox look any way you desire.
If you don't want to use MY Chrome folder, you can start from scratch with Ari's Chrome folder...



If you use the latest version from Github, it will look like this. Just make a folder named: Chrome, and put all this stuff in that folder. Then put this Chrome folder here...
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default-release




Either way... using MY Chrome folder, or the one from Github... you can edit the userChrome.css file inside... to your heart's content. Just remember, that you need to restart Firefox to see the changes.


Any time Mozilla changes things in Firefox, I update the first post here, with the newest tweaks...
