Getting the 0xc1900101 - 0x30018 error and Win11 Home 23H2 will not update

Trying to not have to wipe my drive, but cannot get update to work and get 0xc1900101 - 0x30018 error every time. Have tried Win iso and standard update but neither works. Help! I have included dropbox link of DM file.

That error usually occurs due to incompatible driver. You might check the upgrade logfile to see if there is any indication to which one.

It depends at which point the failure occurs during the upgrade process as to which logfiles are created.

The following log files are created when an upgrade fails during installation before the computer restarts for the second time. You have to look at these logs to get an idea of what's causing the failure.

  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\miglog.xml
  • C:\Windows\setupapi.log
  • [Windows 10:] C:\Windows\Logs\MoSetup\BlueBox.log
  • C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.app.log
  • C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log
  • C:\Windows\panther\PreGatherPnPList.log
  • C:\Windows\panther\PostApplyPnPList.log
  • C:\Windows\memory.dmp
The following log files are created when an upgrade fails, and then you restore the desktop:

  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\miglog.xml
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\sources\panther\setupapi\setupapi.dev.log
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\sources\panther\setupapi\setupapi.app.log
  • C:\Windows\memory.dmp
The following log files are created when an upgrade fails, and the installation rollback is initiated:

  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\setupact.log
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\setupact.err
Here is MS article about how to read the logs. Of course it is in MS speak but maybe if can be of help.

Problems could arise from outdated, corrupted, or incompatible drivers, antivirus software, or other third-party applications. In some cases, peripheral devices connected during the upgrade process could interfere, leading to this error.
