Google must be messing with something.
It went back to normal height for a few hours, but has now gone back to double height.

Do you have any scheduled tasks? It might be hard to pick a routine that stands out.

There is a bug report now.

NEW (nobody) in Web Compatibility - Desktop. Last updated 2023-04-28.

The problem is the Windows 11 Settings > Accessibility > Visual Effects: Always Show Scrollbars.
When it's turned off, the problem is resolved.

There is another Google problem that this setting causes in Firefox.
If you've already done a Google search, then you click back on the search field to display other suggestions, you have to click twice on the suggestion for it to respond.
