Perhaps you could research Porches a bit more. Plenty of cars with more extras than a Porsche, with better performance, and cost half as much.

I'm not a WD fan by any means, I've stated how much I prefer Seagate, and why. But still - if proven track record of MTBF are a valid reason for buying, then you cannot argue paying the premium against someone who wants it.

Back when I was rebuilding a lot of off-lease machines for resale I had several reputable sellers on Ebay where I bought the bulk of my parts, mainly ram and HDDs, because these known sellers would always test before they sold and guarantee the parts. I never got a bad drive. There are many of these machines still in service today using those same parts. Unless you just want a new HDD I agree that dollars can be saved by buying used as long as you check a seller's feedback first to make sure that's all the seller deals in...used computer parts... and that his selling reputation is solid. If you go that route, stress test any used drive immediately so it can be returned if there's a problem.

Don't worry. The only thing that matters is that we both agree that a porch with red geraniums doesn't stink as hard as a WD Black HDD.
