No, the fact that the version matches is how you can tell that you already have the latest BIOS installed. The build date is 28/11/2023, but they didn't release it (officially) on their website until 9/01/2024.

And sometimes the BIOS, the updates can break things that was fine on a previous BIOS so it's a your mileage may vary thing.

Depends on the system if it allows reverting back or not. On my system which is a Dell XPS 15 9570, I have a copy of most of the BIOS versions that were released and on their website, it specifically states the following:
Important Information
- Once you upgrade the BIOS to version 1.4.1 or later, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to earlier versions. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system.
- BIOS version 1.4.1 and later versions are updated with Intel Boot Guard technology.

So I can use anything from 1.4.1 to 1.27.0 but not anything before 1.4.1. Basically, only the first two I cannot use.

And also, the brand of the BIOS makes the difference too. Not sure who makes the current Dell BIOS/UEFI as I know it was Phoenix before but Phoenix has always been the best followed by Award. You have AMI which is American Megatrends Inc which is usually inferior as in the old days, they did not call PCs by the type of CPU, it was all referred to as PC clone or IBM Compatible as they were all trying to be a replica of a IBM so obviously IBM's own BIOS was the best and Phoenix was the 100% compatible BIOS. So a lot depends on which BIOS versions have problems and which don't. Newer versions might add or remove features and might be there just to fix security issues, etc. It's hard to know unless there is a changes list available.
