How to change e-mail display name in Outlook?

I have a contact whose e-mail display name used to be "Sandra and Buddy." I've changed it to just "Sandra" but it still fills in "Sandra and Buddy" when I create a new e-mail with that address (or starting with "Sandra"). How do I get it to use the new display name? I've saved the changed contact info, and closed and re-opened Outlook, to no avail. Is it saving it somewhere else?

Hi,
yes, that comes from a suggestion from the autocomplete list, not the contacts.

Thanks. That explains how to delete a suggested contact but (unless I missed it) it doesn't explain how to replace, edit, or update the suggestion. I deleted "Sandra and Buddy," but now I have to enter the full e-mail address for Sandra. That's better than before, but "Sandra" would be best.

Correct, you can only delete the suggestion from the autocomplete list, not edit it.
Contact list is fully editable.
I am not sure why those 2 couldn't be merged.
I guess you do not want everyone you email to, to be in your contact list.
I might be wrong but I think if you edit the contact Sandra@mail.com , it will show you an option to 'show as'.

Sadly, not for me.

Microsoft Outlook started ignoring the deletion of contact suggestions around 3 years ago. The only way I know is to rename and delete the suggested over and over until it sticks. If it still works for other people, they must be magic.

This guy for instance, will explain how to remove auto suggestions only to state after he explains how, that Microsoft no longer respects the process.

Try typing the full email and pressing Ctrl+K to match it to the contact. Then send a test email, close outlook and reopen. Try creating a new email again and see if shows correctly in the autocomplete list.
