How to have a word in documents where the first letter appears to be positioned lower?

That only would work if one knew it was called "terminology" but this isn't called drop caps either because drop caps apparently is only one letter for the entire paragraph similar to newsletters.

1) It can easily create pdf stuff so no probs there
2) plenty of "Front end" editors etc so it's very simple now - just google a bit.

Things have moved on hugely since 1993 !!!! that's a Geological age ago in terms of hard / software systems !!and it's still in 2024 the "De facto" standard for scientific / medical etc documents. For instance Miktex is an easy way on Windows for using Latex / creating docs.

Plenty of templates etc around now -- works on Linux too (using it again with Texstudio).

That only works if you know exactly what you wanted to ask which I don't which is why sometimes a photo is worth a thousand words. As I tried asking "how to have one letter lower in position than others" and none of the results had anything to do with what I was asking in Google since unless you know the exact term to search for which is what really matters.

Not talking about creating PDF stuff, I am talking about a existing document scanned into a PDF editor and then OCRed so it's not like I can use something and then import the document back without messing up the other stuff. The others already said how to create new stuff since it's similar to building something from scratch versus trying to patch up something that already exists, two different things.

I just tried it in Word and the Font, Advanced Position did work.... Thanks to those who helped! Wasn't able to do something similar with Google Docs though as there isn't anything related to font positioning other than the standard alignment options.

@Edwin - which is why the correct wording matters. Tried replacing Microsoft Word with Google Docs and the results didn't answer anything related to it.

Type the text
Highlight the first target letter
EDIT Home menu > Font > arrow bottom RH corner > Advanced tab > Position > Lowered > set value > OK
EDIT : Select letter > Ctrl+D
Highlight the next location letter > Ctrl+Y
Repeat for each subsequent letter

I haven't used the original LaTex since 1993 when I last worked as a contractor at NASA. The scientists I worked with used TeX to produce the scientific papers they submitted for publication in peer reviewed journals. I tried to get them to use LaTex but they were happy with the results from TeX. I don't know how easy it is to use the current version of LaTex but hopefully it is a lot better than 30 years ago.

BTW, I still have the books I got back in about 1990 as shown in the photo below.
