Here is my protocol to hide the updates:That's not entirely true. I have seen myself some systems that the tool just doesn't work (displays an error that something happened, I don't remember exactly), but recently I did a clean installation on Windows 11 23H2 on a laptop and it worked. I installed all the drivers from the manufacturer and I wanted to block Windows Update from messing with them. So I run Windows Update Show/Hide Tool and it did work. It found all the available updates and I was able to check the boxes to hide (block) the ones I wanted. In case that it matters, I used an already downloaded version of the tool. I didn't downloaded it from the laptop. I guess it is the same version, so it doesn't matter. but I let you know just in case.
PS: I just tried it on my main PC (see 2nd system specs) and it works as expected. No warnings, no error messages. In case that it matters, both my main PC and the laptop I did a clean installation run Windows 11 23H2 in BIOS Legacy mode. Could only UEFI mode installations are affected? Anyone can confirm it?
I already knew "O & O Shutup 10" and "Winaero Tweaker".I have also used Windows Advanced Update Manager (WAU) to hide unwanted updates or to disable Windows Update entirely (not recommended).

windows update show hide tool is being retired. how are we supposed to hide updates we dont want after this happens?
The Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool platform (MSDT) that powers all these legacy troubleshooters is deprecated and will be removed in 2025. Until then wushowhide.diagcab will continue to work. What do you mean retired?
Microsoft said:The legacy inbox Windows Troubleshooters are built-in tools that, when launched, automatically diagnose and correct common problems for a variety of Windows features. MSDT Troubleshooters will be deprecated in the next Windows 11 release, with the date to be determined.
The estimated deprecation timeline will take place over the next three years:
- 2023 – Begin redirecting some of the troubleshooters to the new Get Help troubleshooting platform
- 2024 – Complete the troubleshooter redirection and remove the rest of the troubleshooters
- 2025 – Remove the MSDT platform
WUA Manager.exe from Major Geek's show/hide windows updates still works after Micosoft blocked us from using the show/hidHello, I allow myself to relaunch this problem.
Now it's official, the "Windows Update Show / Hide" tool has been disabled from the 23h2 update of Windows 11!
I had bitter experience during a proper resettlement on a laptop """"not compatible"""".
Even if the tool validates well the masking of unwanted drivers and updates, these same pilots and updates are nevertheless made after restarting the machine.
And is the tool "Windows Automatic Update Manager" reliable?
