Solved I can't access the shared D: drive from a laptop on the desktop

I have a laptop that used to have Win 7 Pro that is my backup computer and I eventually travel with it.
Years ago I removed the ODD and replaced with a caddy to hold a HDD and on the HDD slot I have installed a small SSD for Windows and programs. I also moved C:\users (SSD) to D:\users (HDD).
So D: isn't only a data drive as \users is a system folder.
Only user on the laptop is D:\users\Luiz

I also have a desktop with Win 7 HP. I want to access the laptop D: drive (read and write) so I can synchronize files and folders.
Only user is D:\users\Backup

Two years ago @Bree helped me to have access to the laptop from the desktop and it was working great.

I Just did an upgrade to Win10 and to Win 11. I also converted the not activated Win 11 pro to a Win 11 Home using Brink tutorial
After the conversions I can't access the shared D: drive on the laptop from the desktop.

Everything seems to be correct but I can't even see the laptop Win 11 D: shared drive from the desktop (win 7 HP)
- Both computers (laptop and desktop) are connected to a router by cable. Both are on the workgroup: workgroup
- When I open Explorer on the laptop there is nothing under Network but if I put the \\ASUS_Q550LF\Data_Asus address what is supposed to bee shared shows up.

The final step in converting Pro to Home is an in-place repair upgrade. This would have turned on Password Protected Sharing (the default). Last time round I advised you to turn off Password Protected Sharing. In Windows 11 you will now find this in the Settings app. Turn it off and you should be back to how it was before.

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

I'm over this nightmare for two days now. As I wrote, I checked your instructions and also Brink tutorial.
What is strange is that I can't see the laptop from the desktop. It is like they are on different networks.

In a previous life, I used to spend half of it trying to get - and keep - Windows sharing working satisfactorily. Flaky at best, unstable and unreliable at worst.

In the end, it just wasn't worth it. And as internet speeds improved, file sharing through cloud accounts (preferred Google rather than Microsoft (OneDive)) became much more stable and reliable and is now the norm.

Can you see the Desktop from the Laptop?

Make sure that the laptop is set to be on a Private network.

I only want to access the laptop from the desktop so nothing is shared on the desktop. I will try to share something on the desktop just for test.

Well, it's a puzzle. I've just run up a Win7 laptop and that can see and use the shares on a Win11 laptop without issues.

If you can't see the desktop from the laptop either, then you could try a Network Reset on the laptop.

If nothing else helps, I suggest you stop sharing the share on the Laptop and set it up again from scratch.

Ok @Bree, I found the problem. It was the Tinywall firewall. My fault.
I'm sure I did disable it once and nothing changed. Afterwords I have made some network settings modifications but I can't say what I did and where are they (shooting in the dark).
The main Win10 / Win 11 problem is that settings are spread around, and network settings are no exeption. You can't find a single page with a basic information. To find out the network workgroup it was connected was a hard task.
Anyway I thank you once again for the help.
