I spent hours following the Sepember 4, 2022 post from Cliff S which showed over 250 system services configs one could Disable..
Following that I was able to Disable all the ones he suggested ( about 200 of them) and it reduced my boot up time on my Windows 11 from 29 seconds to 15 seconds.
But, since his list was posted over two years ago I had lots of other services not listed because they did not exist back then.
I am hoping he (or someone who can contact him) sees this message because I am further hoping he might post an updated list.
That would allow me (and anyone else running Windows 11) with the opportunity to Disable other unnecessary services not listed back in September 2022..

His post on that date does not mention any services. Have you mistyped the date?

I don't know the post you are talking about. I never have recommended disabling system services for windows, and probably never will.
At best I I would recommend turning off a third party's software service for uninstallation of the program, if it was sloppy coded, but one could just boot to safe mode and it would already be turned off anyhow.

I was SHOCKED at first. Then after considering the statement, I just KNEW it couldn't be true.
@Cliff S is a local super hero, and would NEVER make such a dastardly post.

Good to see that all is right with the world... once again. :-)

I shudder to think what retribution the "ꓠꓳꓪꓱꓷ ꓶꓯꓕꓲꓨꓲꓷ ꓘꓤꓯꓷ", will level upon the OP. :eek1:

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Hello to all.
The post I was speaking about is found halfway down on the following URL:
"Someone" (obviously NOT Cliff S) even included screen shots whth bold orange hedings.
I agree it was a "dastardly" POST because, after following it and thinking it was great for reducing my boot up time, it turned out to be a disaster.
Two of the suggested sytem services to Disable were: Microsft Software Shadow Copy Provider and Volume Shadow Copy.
Thininking I should backup my computer after doing all th tweeks, when I tried to do that I got an error message and could not create a restore point.
A bit of research led me to discover those two services were essential to create a restore point.
I removed them, then got the ability to create a restore point but decided to check some of my other programs first.
It turned out Outlook would not work (could be my own fault because I had decided to disable "telephony" but I will never know).
That is because, attempting to fix Outlook I could not do it. Then attempting to go ito Safe Mode to try to do it, something went wrong.
My computer screen went black with a system boot error message in the center and only my mouse cursor appered.
I was able to move the cursor around the black screen and clicking to x out of the error message only caused the message to blink out for a minute.
I tried everything and eventually had to unplug my computer which then hung up on restart.
Despite my waiting over 6 hours it still would not complete booting.
Fortunately, constantly hiting the F8 key after unplugging and plugging the compter back in again, I got a option to repair or restart.
I selected repair and from there selected a restore point from the day before I messed with disabling all those sysem services configs.
All is well now & I'll live without the 18 seconds boot up time I saved which, based on the time I spent undoing the problem, adds up to a wasted year.
Of course, in this case, here in Salt Lake Utah a wasted year is just a 6 hours away.
I hope the time I took here to alert anyone who might see the post I had followed will be well spent .... not then but now, in my giving this warning.
Thanks to everyone who replied and, once again, I wish everyone a Happy New Year.
