Hi, another question, I have found that on the old computer, if I went to a site like Major Geeks for example and opened an item from the list, often they have small images like a thumbnail near the bottom of the page when I click on them I would get a larger image to view, on this computer if I click on it, It will download instead. is there a setting that I don't know about? I use Chrome as the browser but Firefox does the same so I guess it may be a windows setting?

I see the same issue, with MajorGeeks, on Chrome on my Windows 10 machine, but not with Edge. There's also no issue on my Windows 11 computer with Chrome, Edge, or FireFox. Weird. It must be caused by a setting or an extension. I'll putter and, hopefully, get back with an answer.

When I single left click it just gives me a bigger pic...

When I right click and choose: Open image in a new tab... (or anything else), it downloads.

That is what mine should do, but it downloads it and opens it with my default .png viewer

On the General tab in Options... I have the Downloads set to save to the Desktop. That's the only thing I really changed.

First things first... stop Firefox from automatically updating. Simply unzip and drop this "distribution" folder into... C:\\Program Files\\Mozilla Firefox After manually updating Firefox this folder will be erased, so save a copy somewher

For Chrome, it's something in the preferences and/or the secure preferences files:

%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Preferences

I'm not making much progress narrowing it down further. I'll try again tomorrow.

Yeah, that seems to be all I could do as well. I tried to determine exactly what entry in those files caused the problem, but it seemed to be a moving target. At one point I was sure it was in Secure Preferences and then it seemed to be in Preferences. I spent a couple of hours comparing "broken" to "working" files and ended up finding nothing in particular. This bugs me because I'm sure the issue will come back. OTOH, I think the way the MajorGeeks web page is coded is contributing to the problem.
