Congrats on the decision to go ahead with that plan. You thought about that one for a loooong time. We all hope it will work out well for you. Maybe you'll post a report in the future?
Well, there is not much to say, which is actually a good thing. But here goes.
The item came with a CD/DVD containing the driver but W11 immediately recognized the device and it worked right away.
I also put it through its paces. The most taxing ones were burning Recovery Drives. The first Recovery Drive was a machine-specific Dell OEM Recovery Drive that I reported on in a recent thread. The second Recovery Drive is as Microsoft wants it to be done, only I created 2 partitions on the USB stick using Disk Management. I burned the MS Recovery Drive on one partition and exported my drivers on the other partition.
The burning of the Recovery Drives could be faster according to impatient me, but exporting drivers was fast, and the steps in partitioning of the USB stick were almost instantaneous.
BTW, the reason why it took me so long to buy the expansion card, was that the USB hub that I used to use, also worked flawlessly. The only justification to buy the expansion card is reduction of clutter. There is no performance difference one way or the other
