Internet speeds

I have an almost new Asus motherboard computer with up to date Windows 11 installed .I pay for 350 mbs from my ISP but cannot reach more than 180 mbs at any time using speed Test.com , All mobile phones in the house reach 350 mbs without any bother . Can anybody advise what might be amiss with this problem? My pc spec is as follows :

Welcome to the forum.
The mobile phones have nothing to do with your home wi-fi network as they are on the mobile network,
unless you have connected your phones to your home network, which I assume is over wifi and not wired (you didn't say)
Did you try to talk to your ISP? After all, you are paying for their service.

Go to settings and network properties to check your Wi-Fi properties or ethernet properties - it will show you your laptop or computer capabilities.

Are you referring to link speed which in my case is 325/325 . What does that actually mean is this what my problem is ?

If you are paying for 350 Mbps then your connection will be FTTP. Full fibre all the way into your premises. As such the speed drop is probably in your premises. It is possible that it could be outside and @OAT suggestion re contacting your ISP is a good first step.

Are you connecting the PC to the hub via ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. If it is via Wi-Fi then the signal could be poor. Can you connect via ethernet cable?

understand all that I am connected by wifi and mobile phones also connected to the same wifi achieve max 350 mb , my pc does not and I would like to find out what the cause is .

For starters, make sure you have the latest drivers/IntelME/BIOS (just released).

As a test to rule out Wi-Fi issues can you turn off your PCs Wi-Fi and connect via ethernet cable instead? Then run another speed test. If you get 350 Mbps then it proves it is a Wi-Fi issue. You can then remove cable and reconnect Wi-Fi with a view to fixing the issue.

Does your Router have split SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz? If so then are phones and PC connected to the same Wi-Fi band?

Many things can affect Wi-Fi speeds. Too many things to mention here but some things to check are: -
Cross channel interference (if using 2.4 GHz), location of PC relative to Router, the presence of fish tanks/mirrors.

the 350/350 is the most sent receive your computer can get; since you stated this is Wi-Fi I would turn off Wi-Fi and test with internet cable to the modem to test lan speed as Wiganken stated.

It also depends on speed of your wifi adapter. Go to device manager-network adapters. Post back what wifi adapter you have.

If I'm reading the specs correctly, that is a dual band adapter. Just because you are connecting to the same wifi with all your devices, you may not be connecting to the same frequency. Go to settings>network and internet to see if you are connecting to 2.4 or 5 ghz.

Let me add this. In my case, I do not have superspeed internet, only 50 mbps, but I do have a very good main router as well as a second router set up as an access point. My PC is a distance away from both with quite a few walls in between. Until just last week, I was running through a cat6 ethernet cable directly to my main router which is more stable than wireless. My speed on my PC began dropping with total connection loss at times, I discovered the end of the cable was worn and causing the problem. Since I was unable to run another cable through the attic I had to connect wirelessly to the AP. I found almost no difference in speeds when using the 2.4 and 5g bands.

So what speeds you will get on either band depends on all the factors stated in the article I posted previously. You have to also consider that you could have an actual hardware problem with your wireless adapter. FYI-I can't attest to this myself, but I read on the HP forum that that particular wireless adapter has only one antenna. If it is necessary to replace it, the replacement has to be the same model adapter.

Your speed may be normal depending upon whether you are connecting to the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands.

I have an old laptop with 802.11 ac Wi-Fi. On the 5GHz band its speed would very from 150 to 250 Mbps. Sometimes it would connect at 2.4GHz which caused its speed to drop even lower. Because of that I split the bands giving a separate SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. That way I could force it to connect to the 5GHz band.
