INVALID DATA ACCESS TRAP

I encountered INVALID DATA ACCESS TRAP when upgrading from Win 10 to 11 (Nov 21) and win 11 21h2 to 22h2, all on a Samsung 980 SSD which otherwise behaved normally. After eliminating all other factors, a FIRMWARE UPGRADE to the latest firmware (in Nov 22) cleared the fault entirely.

Moral of the story: when purchasing an SSD, check if a firmware upgrade is available and if so, update it.

There has been multiple reasons for that bugcheck but they are occur because of something going wrong with WinSetupMon.sys which is used during the upgrade. I believe it checks for system compatibility but I can't say for certain. The Intel Support Assistant caused it on one system which was updating Windows 10 to Windows 11.

The Intel Support Assistant caused it on one system which was updating Windows 10 to Windows 11.

I can confirm that it was the cause of a BSOD on one of my systems as well, but during a new Dev build install.
I just disable anything that runs at startup during a new build install now.
