Tonight I noticed someone alleging a difference between Duck Duck Go browser and Duck Duck Go Search Engine:

Is this simply a confused poster?

For privacy reasons I would like to use Duck Duck Go but I am frustrated by the results imprecise results I get.

Is there a problem inherent in MS building Edge into the program that makes Duck Duck Go incompatible?

I've tried, and I can't seem to apply the simplest Boolean logic to Duck Duck Go.

Does it really allow searches that don't return more false positives than answers?

Thanks

DuckDuckGo do both (browser and add-on/extension)

I use DDGo Privacy Essentials add-on/extension on all of my 5 browsers, nary a hiccough and clean, accurate search results without any vested commercial interests (unlike other search engines!!)

I doubt there's a conflict between the two, since Edge is built on Google's Chrome platform. In theory, the browser from DuckDuckGo should work just fine.

As for the search engine... I've never used it, and I much rather go with Google. The results are far more accurate, and I overall find what I need faster with it. Keep in mind,,, YMMV

Hi baumgrenze,

I use DuckDuckGo as a browser exclusively in Windows 11. I have no conflicts and get satisfactory result. However, I haven't compared it to Google. I avoid both Google and Edge.

Kind regards,

tecknot

Although it obviously depends on what exactly it is that you are looking for, in the general sense I would say that DDG has very limited compatibility with getting good search results. Whereas the fact that Google Search is nigh incompatible with online privacy behooves no explanation. Then again, getting relevant search results is indispensable to me, and, I can run multiple instances of Firefox Portable browser concurrently with, for example, Narsil, all under the supervision of (in privacy mode, that is...) Sandboxie-Plus.
