Hello,

I’ve been for quite some time away from windows.

I know that stuff like Revo Uninstaller and Ccleaner were the thing a while back.

Is the windows uninstaller enough on W11 now?

It depends, all the Windows uninstaller does is look up the associated program's uninstaller from the following registry key:

Code: 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

It runs the uninstaller listed under the UninstallString value.

I tend to use Windows apps/utilities, including the W11 uninstaller. Windows apps/utilities tend to cause the least trouble for Windows machines, although they can be less than perfect in other aspects, which is usually OK with me.

There has to be some compelling reason for me to use 3rd party apps/utilities.

It leaves broken registry keys everywhere. Revo or Geek, in my opinion, do a much better job.

IMO it's a no brainer. An Uninstaller is definitely best. I've used Revo Pro for years but the free version is sufficient for most people. It comes in a portable version too. Revo uses the same program uninstall file that Windows uses, but then scans for leftover files and registry entries that uninstalling with Windows would have left behind.

Revo Uninstaller works well, but if you're looking for another option that is completely free, then HiBit Uninstaller is very good and also has a portable version.

As with all these third party uninstallers, their minor weakness is when the system wants to reboot after the built-in uninstaller has completed and before it gets to do its own scan and removal. You can say "No" to rebooting so that the third party uninstaller can do its job before rebooting, but it will probably also find immovable folders and files for the very same reason why the built-in uninstaller requested a system reboot.

I have both now. I use Revo most of the time, but I just tried Geek and I love it

I have used the free Revo since I first heard about it years ago on one of these forums for getting rid of the residual doo doo droppings that are usually left behind by a Win/product uninstall. I would like to find out if there is a comparison around between Revo and Geek...... which one does the more complete wipe, or do they give same results?
