Is the windows uninstaller enough?

I stick with REVO Uninstaller (free).

Reason: "Always dance with the girl that brung ya".

Yeah if you still enjoy testing programs, I don't recall when I last time installed a program that is completely new thing to me.
The only thing new I install is games, but programs, my list of very well established ones is long and stable and there is no need for change.

No, it's not enough and that was never the case, there has always been and will be leftovers.

Those leftovers are not an issue at all and can be safely ignored, they become annoying if you install and uninstall a lot of stuff regularly which poke you in the eye every time you see them but otherwise don't cause performance issues.

One method to deal with them is uninstaller programs which I'm not fan of.

2nd method which I used to use before is manual disk cleanup followed by manual registry cleanup,
it's takes a lot more job than with uninstaller, and if you're not careful and patient you can do more harm than good.
The only benefit is that you don't clobber your system with yet another software.

And 3rd method which is my favorite is to just not install software which you didn't already test in previous windows installation.
If you want to test something, test it in VM or on a system which you plan to reformat.
The whole purpose is to keep you system minimal and stable with as few junk on it as possible.

Bottom line, Revo is your best bet as an uninstaller, but a regular routine of disk imaging is your best bet for not worrying about whether or not you're using the best uninstaller

I've only used a third party uninstaller when something left behind started resulting in error messages. Otherwise, I just leave it be and don't worry about it.

I also don't install a bunch of stuff. And I use lots of VM's for testing and playing.
