If that makes you feel any better, the latest Canary build brings back the right-clicking options for the security icon.

Thanks. If you didn't mention it, I didn't even know this was missing in the current Beta build since I always double left click on it most of the time when something bad is reported.

It's absent in the current dev build as well and was absent in the previous Canary build.

I do not remember if I rebooted after the initial reboot in updating to this build or not so I rebooted a few minutes ago. At first I was worried because it seems all my system tray overflow icons loaded except that one but eventually after a few minutes, the Bluetooth icon did show up except it was the second icon on the first row counting from the left instead of the first one so it was HWInfo, Bluetooth Icon so it's not saving the position of the Bluetooth icon for some reason while it is saving the positions of the other icons. So maybe the issue is it might have to do with regional versions as I am on the US English version while you and @kiwisteve seem to be in Australia and New Zealand which both are on the same continent of Australia. I don't have the tooltip either for Windows Security but as @f14tomcat mentioned in KB5028247 Windows 11 Insider Beta 22621.2048 and 22631.2048 - July 13
"If you mean no verbiage above the tray shield icon, there's none in the RTM mainline 22621 either." so maybe that one is supposed to be that way.

Yeah fellas I had the BT icon right after it installed but then it disappeared from the task bar area altogether just like yours did. I thought about putting its picture on a missing poster and stapling it to a telephone pole.

I may be mistaken, but the Security Icon (Defender) is the Store App Security Health. Being a store app may explain no verbiage.

I repeated my test from yesterday to reinstate the BT Icon (Post #55), to see if the Security Icon label is there afterwards.

It is but it's empty of text. At some point, I expect that the empty label will stop showing.

Just as a test, rearrange the Security icon. Move it before the BT icon. see if the "shadow" box label goes away.

I tried that but the empty label persists. However, if I drag it to the "Show Hidden Icons" widget, it loses the empty label, and even if drag it back.

It's a piece of "trash" in the notification area, I had it with a different icon totally unrelated except it also was a store app. What I am seeing is on the RTM mainline OS 22631.

Since you are in Florida, the theory about it being a regional thing as mentioned to @PurSpyk!! and @kiwisteve proven to be false. Maybe this is the better question, what Bluetooth adapter are you using? Mines is an Intel AX210 WiFi6E/Bluetooth v5.2 M2.2230.

It isn't as the Security Icon is basically C:\Windows\System32\SecurityHealthSystray.exe as there are times when the icon shows a warning and killing and restarting the SecurityHealthSystray.exe process would fix the problem.

On 3 different computers, all with different adapters, same this occurs. Odd I received a call, and the Phone Link app opened, and then the BT icon appear, but it still disappears after a reboot

As I already said, it's proven to not be a regional thing but you never answered the question about what specific Bluetooth adapter are you using on each of the three systems, are they Intel, Qualcomm/Atheros, etc as it could be a issue with a certain Bluetooth stack(s) similar to the corrupted bt files some of us experience with new builds of Windows when doing sfc /scannow. The BT icon is more to make accessing BT settings easier and does not effect functionality of whether BT works or not.

The Bluetooth indicator icon is actually in the registry in the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Bluetooth
under the 32-bit DWORD value "Notification Area Icon"
set the 32-bit DWORD value Notification Area Icon to 1 to add the Bluetooth taskbar icon. To remove the icon, set the Notification Area Icon value to 0.

I don't even have that DWORD at all.

even though Add or Remove Bluetooth Notification Icon on Taskbar in Windows 11 Tutorial also mentions the same registry key.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough, my fault. I didn't mean to infer the Icon itself was an app, that of course could never be, I meant that the app represented by the icon is a Windows App, Security Health.

Two systems are running Intel, one is a generic usb Bluetooth dongle, I don't think this will help much

That makes sense. However, when you double click on the icon itself, it does actually open up two new processes:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.SecHealthUI_1000.25873.9001.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\SecHealthUI.exe (Windows Defender) which is a app
and
C:\Windows\System32\SecurityHealth\1.0.2306.10002-0\SecurityHealthHost.exe

So it seems like it's a hybrid WIndows app. LOL.

Yeah, it won't. Maybe report it on Feedback Hub from each system. I don't have anything connected to Bluetooth on my system but it seems on Feedback Hub, a few people had the icon showing up again after the audio device connected by BT was connected but that was way before this build. Do you even have the registry key mentioned in post #75 though?

Yes, I have the registry key, the icon will reappear automatically if I open Phone Link, or I get calls. I have reported this on the Feedback hub, and the issue with Windows Security no longer having a tooltip. Looks like MS are making changes to the system tray, and this is affecting how older functions work or behave.
