The April 25, 2025 update for Windows 11, version 24H2 includes security and cumulative reliability improvements in .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1. We recommend that you apply this update as part of your regular maintenance routines. Before you install this update, see the Prerequisites and Restart requirement sections.

Summary​

Security Improvements
There are no new security improvements in this release. This update is cumulative and contains all previously released security improvements.

Quality and Reliability Improvements
.NET Libraries- Addresses an issue with concurrency in TypeDescriptor.GetConverter()issue in TypeDescriptor GetProperties() and GetConverter().
.NET Runtime- Addresses an issue where interactions between .NET Framework DLL loads and OS code integrity enforcement policy trigger error reporting dialog boxes.

Not for me.
I have two updates - KB5056579, and KB5055634 which will not install on my system.
I keep getting the error: 0x800f0922 at the end of the process.
The installer always freezes at either 36% or 73%, then posts the message "Something went wrong... don't worry..."
The system restarts a couple of times, then the Windows login screen appears.

Update:
I am getting very annoyed and frustrated.
I have tried everything to install the updates I listed above, but every time, I get to 36%, then there's the "Something went wrong..." message, and the same error code appears in the Windows update app.
I tried disabling ESET Internet Security for 4 hours, but once the computer reboots, ESET restores protection.
I do not believe that my AV software is responsible for this failure. This is a Microsoft issue.
It appears to me that I am going to need to download the latest build of Windows 11 Pro, format and reinstall the OS, then do all the updates before I install any apps - including Microsoft 365, which I own a subscription to.

Even though my normal user has admin privs (he is me), I have a separate Administrator account, so that is the next and last thing I will try.
If this doesn't work (and it won't), I am going to have to pause updates until MS can come up with a fix for this bug - and I am certain at this point that this is a bug.

I was only able to upgrade to Windows 11 pro version 24H2 a couple of weeks ago - after converting my boot drive from MBR to GPT and enabling Secure Boot (disabling compatability mode) in the BIOS.

All was fine until earlier this week when Windows wanted to install updates.
I allowed the updates, but was logged in as my regular user - with admin privs.
My last attempt at installing the latest updates is to log out of my user account and log in as the admin.
If that doesn't work...
I guess I'll have to create a Windows 11 Pro installation USB stick that has the latest Windows iso file. From there, maybe I can install the latest updates.

If all of that fails... honestly; I am going to defect to Linux.
