Laptop Battery Removal/Hinge Repair

Two quick questions:
1. I had to remove a swelled battery from an HP Pavilion Notebook..., Can I just wrap the pigtail connector with electrical tape and leave it laying loose in the empty battery compartment?

I always use epoxy resin to remould around them screw bosses.

Just leave that connector dangling, it wont come to any harm.

We Texans can fix most everything with baling wire and duck tape. But for laptop stuff, one of my favorite "southern engineering" tools is JB Weld. Use the right JB product for the surface you're working with and there's not much it can't fix if you have a steady hand and a lot of patience. I used to have both but since I've gotten old, I now have neither. My husband is really good with working with it.

JB Weld, is that the twin tube thingy? I think I got that last weekend to fix a crack in my bathroom bidet. 😁

wrap it and hold it in place with the same tape.

Ever notice, when someone brings you a laptop to upgrade or repair, that the case is cracked in about a thousand different places and they weren't even aware of it!
Only until you start prying it apart do you become aware!!! :cool:

You'd want blue, not red. The latter requires heat to break the bond.

I wasn't gonna bother with this machine too much, but, it's got an i5 and 16GB of RAM..., I Rufus'd W11 Canary onto it and it's pretty darn snappy!!!

Anything exposed to heat for long periods of time will eventually crack by itself.

I'm skeptical about the longevity of cyanoacrylate glue.

I might prefer epoxy.

And avoid 5 minute epoxies.

I might try shoe glue: Amazon.com

(Bonding plastic to itself.)

3M 2216 can have an amazingly strong bond, but I don't know anywhere to get it in small quantities, at a sane price.

HP has battery check at start up. I think you need to disable it from Task Scheduler under "Hewlett Packard".
