Solved Laptop recommendations please!

This is what you're thinking i have USB 4 speed of 120Gbps i will have that much speed if i connect to Ethernet port speed of 1Gbps (1000 Mbps) if your router modem only support 1Gbps it does not matter what you connect to it will still have 1Gbps speed.

I ended up going for an LG Gram 17" i7 Ultra.I looked at others like the HP Envy range and Dell, but the Gram seemed pretty good.
Sound is so-so but it does support Dolby Atmos so bluetooth it if needed.
It has 2 x Thunderbolt 4 ports which was the decision maker for me.
The Envy with 32GB would have been #2 though.
I would have liked a lappy with 64GB but I couldn't justify the price, plus high end units tend to be noisy and overheat. ( I can count the replies already!)
As always, one ends up with a shortlist to pick from so try laptopdecision.com to do feature side-by-side comparisons of brands and models.
Also check customer service ethic of the manufacturer with sites like Louis Rossman and reliability with Northridgefix, both on youtube.

Missed that one: Thunderbolt 5. TB5 has a nominal 80Gbps data rate. The 120Gbps is a video burst rate. "Up to 120Gbps" might be regarded as true, but slightly misleading.

There are also now 2.5Gbps connections, as well as the 10Gbps connections that you have been chatting about during this thread as well. My wife and I both have Windows desktop computers, with 2.5Gbps network ports on them.

The OP here, has a 2.5Gbps internet connection to his ISP. He would like to use a USB-C adapter (which has enough bandwidth to use that 2.5Gbps connection) to connect to his network/ISP to get the additional speeds that he has available.

I don't know any Ethernet standard that has speed of 2.5Gbps maybe USB have that speed.

What i try to explain to OP is he needs 10Gbps Ethernet standard port and USB speed standard of equal or greater of 2.5 Gbps before knowing the computer specs and router Ethernet port speed.

Why not get a laptop with an actual 2.5Gbps Ethernet port? They exist. They tend to be relatively high end.
