Afternoon Bob, (mine is on 24/7, but thermostat set for 18°C to keep the bills down)
Mine has been a very good day so far. One of my old laptops has a damaged screen, a dead black spot that started out the size of a grain of rice but a year later has grown to the size of a 20p coin (with a 2" horizontal 'tail'). This week I found an identical machine on eBay for £14 as 'for spares'. No HDD or battery, but screenshots showing it was working with Win7. As that's less than half the price of any replacement screens I can find I though it worth the risk and bought it. (My first ever eBay purchase, I had to join in order to buy it.)
It arrived today. Not only, once I'd added my own battery and SSD, did it turn out to be in full working order, but it already has its own digital licence for Win10/11 Home. If I can use the Activation Troubleshooter to transfer the Pro digital licence from the old one it's going to be a direct replacement. If not, then I'll just swap the screens.
