I could not do mine online because after a certain age you need to re-take your eye test.

So in your country, people with real bad eyesight can drive .....WoW
No, opticians or doctors can report you if they spot any medical reasons you can't drive and your licence is suspended until you take a test.
They can do the same here but if you never go see a doctor you can be blind and still have a driver's license.
Good afternoon Mike, welcome back. In the UK up to age 70 we only need to renew a driving licence if we change address. From 70 on we renew every 3 years. I did mine online.
We don't have to take an eye test, but at renewal we do have to declare that we are fit to drive in all respects, including our eyesight.
