So, I'm contemplating whether to install this this weekend the new liquid CPU cooler I purchased, upgrade my primary drive to a 1TB from a 512GB m.2 SSD, and install the USB-C expansion port I purchased. I'm worried that the liquid cooler will take more time than I want it to. I have to switch out the mounting plate and can't remember if my computer chassis has a cutaway to access the bottom of the motherboard where the CPU mounting plate is screwed in. I'm thinking I can live without the upgrades until the end of the semester. On the other hand, I make it a point not to work on Sundays, so I'll have some time. On the other hand, in my experiences, if it can go wrong, it will. I don't want to be working on my system Monday morning when I should be working on grading student work.
I guess I can see what the liquid cooler will entail once I crack open the case. The SSD switch out and USB-C expansion port should be quick enough. If I don't have the cut away on the case, I'd have to take out the motherboard. UGH! If I do that, I might as well upgrade my case to a better model than the cheap-o case I use. I can always reassemble the case without the new cooler until Winter break hits. By then, the new case I select will be here. Of course, I'll want to get that soon since I read that this Christmas is going to be expensive with slow shipping.
Decisions, decisions...
