In that vein, Ninite, Windows Update, Flatpacks, Docker, and even WinGet can be fallible. They are only as good as the database they rely on to check.

It's not a matter of trust, IMO, it's simply a matter of database updates. If it suggests a version older than what you already have, don't update.

Now, what I will agree to (and what I suspect you might have been alluding to) is letting any of these software update checking programs automatically update software without manual oversight.

I don't even let WU do that lol, much less any software that I have installed that has its own capability to check for updates. If it does not allow me to choose when (and if) to install updates, I turn off the auto-update feature and manually check.

At least WU must understand MS's version numbering!

Now I am going to using UCheck, it is fresh and There is also a 64 bit portable version. İ advise.
