You could use something like CCleaner which has secure erase. Usually takes quite a while. Take longer of you select more than one pass.

Is this an HDD or SSD? SSD should be fine with fewer passes. Sdelete from sysinternals is another tool to use.

If the drive in question is your C: drive, then you will need to boot from external media such as a USB Flash Drive (UFD). Here is an example of how I would do this:

1) Create a Windows installation UFD and boot from it.
2) When you get to the first static screen where setup is asking for information from you, press SHIFT + F10 to open a command prompt.
3) At the command prompt, run "diskpart".
4) Once diskpart has started run the command "list disk"
5) Run the command "select disk 0". Replace the 0 with the ID shown for your SSD in the "list disk" command.
6) Run the command "clean all".

This will write zeros to every block on the disk, wiping out any and all data that was previously stored there.

Your motherboard may have secure erase in the UEFI bios.
On my X670 it is in the tool menu.

I don’t know mate. Diskpart is what I use for SSD’s and HDD’s
The first part in that link did have secure erase options for SSD at the top.

There is also a special tool in parted magic that will do the job properly.

Hopefully solidigm will fix the page soon. It is a nice tool

Parted magic includes a special program the erases ssd properly without damaging them.

Solidigm does similar ( and it is easier to use ) but the download page aint working atm

AS far as I know, only those two work for all brands.

Only one answer ... from the command line ... diskpart clean all (Google for exact details). Trust no others.
