lots of spam mails (outlook)

goodevening gentlemen,
the last 6 months i have been getting lots of spam mails on outlook from casino, lotery, woman.
i did never subscribe to any of those. and am getting lots of mails.
i tried unsubscribing but it just didn't help. it keeps coming back
i did also block them all and reported them for phising and report for junk. nothing helped.
does any one know a solution without me having to change my email adres or can i create a new email and use forwarding with my old email and only get specific emails of my choosing to come like bank, work, and private stuff.
i am using windows 11 64bit

That is a big mistake. By 'unscribing' you let the spammer(s) know your e-mailadress does exist.
You should only unscribe if you know absolutely sure the sender is trustworthy.
So never ever touch the unscribe links in a spammail!

You don't need to subscribe anywhere to get spammails.
The main reason people come on the spamlist is they post their emailadress somewhere on the Internet. In a forum, on a site where you can post an opinion about something, things like that. Spammers scan such sites and collect all adresses to send their spammessages to.

Yes, you can create a new mailadress and forward the mails to the old one. But you will still have the same problem on the forwarded mailadress, for that's where the spammers send their mails to.. Better switch completely to a new adress and make sure that in any case you never post the adress anywhere on the Internet!

Sometimes that's not enough, as your mailadress will be added to the adressbook of anyone that sends you a mail or answers your mail. That's the default setting of most email clients and webmail servers. If someone's computer or only the mail is hacked, the person has full access to all mailadresses in the adressbook. That's something you can't avoid...

@Kees is correct. Never touch a link in unsolicited mail. I await the day that Windows Mail (Outlook) gets its act together and adds decent spam tools, like Outlook in the Office suite.

Microsoft email addresses are free. It isn’t ideal, but you may have to change your Microsoft account email.

I have never used my Microsoft account email address anywhere. I have a 2nd (and 3rd) Microsoft email address that I use to subscribe to sites and get communications to.

It’s a good practice to;
- Use a secondary email address other than your Microsoft accounts email address for day to day communications
- Keep a list of links to entities that you have subscribed to, so when you are ready to dump your secondary email address due to issues like too much spam it will be easier for you to change email addresses on subscribed sites.

I find Windows Mail/Calendar odd. I shouldn’t complain, but I get no spam to any of my outlook addresses, and the advertising doesn’t reach my inbox. I have never created a “rule” but if I login to the outlook website online, I see the Microsoft advertising in there.
I suppose I should rejoice!

I’ve all but stopped using Outlook in Office 2021 for most things. I find I can handle Windows Mail/Outlook. But for my personal domains I use Outlook because I find .pst files quite valuable. I have emails saved from 20 years ago and beyond, for legal reasons, warranties and receipts mainly.

I rarely get spam and, if I do, Mailbird creates an immediate All Conditions Filter when invoked.
When I create an email account, I come up with a very corporately official looking name, it deters spammers.
I never use my real email outside of my Contacts!

Regarding (Office) Outlook 365...

That's what I do. I have my rules automatically delete the offending emails. Once I open Outlook, the emails are automatically deleted. The only catch is if you use more than one device with the Outlook app as I do, only the device with the rules will work where syncing is concerned (IMAP).

Example my main rig is where my rules are setup, but I also use Outlook on my phone. If I open Outlook on my phone first the spam emails will be there. But if I open Outlook on my main rig first, those emails are deleted per my rules, and now when I open Outlook on my phone they will also be gone (per IMAP syncing). Unfortunately, Rules are not universal and only apply to the machine they were set on.

Prevention wise - I use both "public" and private email accounts and depending on who you are will determine which account I use for registration and business. Helps control the which account is more likely to get it spammed.

Also a lot of ISPs do a lousy job of filtering malicous mail. You are better off with one of the big email companies.

Unfortunately you have done some things that increase the risk of Spam.

By clicking on Spam Emails unsubscribe links you are just indicating your Email Address is live and that is what they want to know and you get put on a mugs list, sold to other spammers hence more spam.
Merely viewing the Email can also do that.

You really should just use the subject line and delete them.

Use the Web interface to access whatever Email Account this is and mark the Spam Email. That will train the spam filter after a time.

The big Email providers do have good spam filters but it does take time.

Blocking, creating filters/rules will do nothing as the from fields are faked/randomised. Spammers are experts at dodging such things.

I know this gets repeated time and again, but I don't think it's true. I used to get loads of spam to one of my oldest email addresses, and as a test for months, I clicked unsubscribe on an email that had a link - and the spam in that mailbox is now down to a few a week.

There are plenty of services to scrub a mailing list to check for live email emails without relying on people clicking unsubscribe and also it's better to unsubscribe people from your crap lists that get the sending IP blacklisted for spam and get none of your junk out.

I agree as I also hit unsubscribe, but I will add it also depends on where the spam is coming from. If I suspect it's just looking for "live accounts" I just ignore or delete rule it.

BTW, I've also found some vendors, example Snagit's Techsmith tend to ignore unsubscribing. I've called them several times on this (my account settings are set to not receive junk) yet they somehow still send me junk mail. I've thus had to resort to putting them in the spam box

But yeah, I also unsubscribe and 90 percent of the time it works; but I'm also careful about it.
