These are my times for imaging (Medium compression) my whole main drive, which includes C: (all of Windows) and D: (all of my programs except Chrome, which insists on being installed on C:). If they're reduced by half in X, I'll just barely have time to get my finger off the key.

I'm not sure what those images are (they look like Incrementals in an SSD to SSD environment). How much DATA is being imaged in your FULL images and how long do they take? Tell us about your System disk environment and your imaging specifications.

Full images in an M.2 to M.2 environment. Except for a few documents on D:, no DATA at all. Just Windows and the programs (40 of them). No games, almost no pix, and certainly no vids.

I do a nightly backup of my Thunderbird mail profile (which includes saved mail, of which I have almost none, because I empty my Inbox every night and Empty Trash after that). I use the No Compression setting. Takes 6 seconds, tops.

I back up the Local Storage disk to an external once a week, and edit out old backups.

Well I am on v8 Paid and image my entire C:\ Drive and it only takes 1min and 35 seconds. I would not be interested in saving my data to GITHUB.

Who said anything about saving to GitHub? Macrium are making the Reflect X image format public, along with the source code to restore it.

We have included a Visual Studio 2022 solution and CMakeLists.txt files, which are used for managing the build process of software using CMake. The package includes libraries and an executable, img_to_vhdx.exe, that enables the restoration of any Macrium Reflect X Image or File and Folder backup file to a dynamically created and mounted VHDX file. All source code is licensed under the MIT License, ensuring that the tools and code needed are always freely available.

I would gladly upgrade my 8 version 8 licenses to version 10, except the whole subscription model has me rethinking that. I've been testing other programs with the thought in the back of my mind that I may jump ship and go to another solution. The one thing standing in my way is that Reflect is a REALLY good piece of software!

According to Macrium Reflect I can continue to use MR 8 as long as I want to but without support. I would not even think of trying a BETA product to backup my data. I will continue to use it for as long as it still works. Then I may seek alternatives as I will not go the subscription plan.

The killer question is if it is lease only or can we get a perpetual licence. I would consider a perpetual licence if the upgrade deal was ok for one licence. I doubt I would upgrade my other 4 V8 licences though

I've been using MR v8.1 paid version on 3 systems for almost 2 years. I'll keep using it indefinitely. For example, on my "System 2" in my specs, I'm backing up a NVMe drive with 350 GB of data to a 2 GB Samsung T7 portable SSD, which takes an average of 12 to 15 minutes to do a full backup. For comparison, it would take almost 1 hour to do the backup on a 2 TB WD Passport external HDD.

I tested AOMEI Backupper, but still prefer MR. Maybe when MR X is released, I'll look at the pricing and subscription details before making a decision as to upgrading.

Demo

We've also provided a pre-built demo of img_to_vhdx.exe, bundled with a Reflect X image file and a batch file named demo.bat. To get started, extract the img_to_vhdx.zip file to any directory of your choice and execute demo.bat. On completion, a new VHDX file will be generated and automatically mounted, granting you full access to the data contained in the image file.

ARM based PC's are on the horizon and MR needs to be developing an ARM based version and get there ahead of the competition. Did not see any mention of this in the Beta.

3 copies of my data
2 different backup technologies
1 copy must always be offsite

I work from home and am my own boss, so my data is vitally important to me.

Every evening I make two Macrium Reflect images to two 4TB Samsung T9 SSD's each containing 5 rotating images. My image size is currently 397 GB. The SSD's are only connected for the short time it takes to do an image which is currently averaging 5 minutes 30 seconds to do. I do the two images while I am working in the evening.

I work entirely from my local 1 Terabyte C Drive and all my data is kept in my OneDrive folder. I'm a Microsoft 365 subscriber which includes 1 Terabyte of OneDrive cloud storage. I have OneDrive set to mirror my local OneDrive folder, thus I always have all my work backed up throughout the day in real-time as I work.

That's it. 3,2,1. Three separate copies of my data using Two different technologies. One copy is always offsite and kept in real-time.
