Macrium with Acronis and restic + plus real time ViceVersa PRO


It appears to me that you've taken a relatively simple task and made it into a complex process that goes on indefinitely week after week.

I use Acronis True Image 2021 to automatically back up to a external hard drive every Wednesday night with no intervention on my part. When I do a major change to my PC or VM during the week then I will make a backup manually just for my piece of mind.

It's as simple as that.

rsync is deprecated these days :) check restic/borg backup...

rsync has issue with proper file handling/attributes etc... also do dedup/ etc etc... it was nice 10y back... or for some other tasks nowadays.

Works 100% OK these days -- but there's zillions of ways of backing up data on Linux systems.

I remember years ago "Brubackup" to tape cartridges -- who even THINKS of that stuff any more.
