I fully agree with using second opinion scanners, I occasionally use this one Emsisoft | Emergency Kit: Portable Malware & Virus Scanner

If MBAM could be installed on a USB stick, I would have used it as a second opinion scanner too (I don't like installing programs on my computer if not absolutely necessary) There are MBAM versions that is only licensed to support techs that can be installed on a USB stick, but I am not in tech support.

No, the 2023 end date is fixed. Microsoft have a very costly (to MS customers) subscription service for business customer that cannot do without Windows 7 called 'Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU)'. For a price they can continue receiving security patches for the W7 OS until 2023. The MSE engine and definitions updates are the only part of that continuing support that are delivered to all through Windows Update, whether we've bought an ESU contract or not. Oh, that and the Malware Removal Tool.

That's a VERY fortunate circumstance for Windows 7 users, making for 13.5 years of security updates. I believe Windows 8.1 that was released some 4 years later, will be cut-off on the same 2023 date, making for 9.5 years of security updates. Let's see how many years of security updates Windows 10 will get.

I too bought an MWB lifetime license which is still going strong and in use today. Wish I'd known I could have bought more than one.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled MalwareBytes many times over the years without any problems as to activation. When I login to my account on their website it states my licence is a lifetime licence so no reason to think they would not activate any held licences.

I bought a lifetime edition of Malwarebytes so long ago and have pretty much used it all the time until a couple of weeks ago. It caused really slow boot problems with an earlier version of Windows 11 and it took me a while to find out that it was the culprit. Once I removed it, everything was fine. I noticed that someone else on the Malwarebytes forum had the same problem in Windows 11 but Malwarebytes' response was that they should not be using the programme on windows 11 because it was only for windows 10. Hmmm. I do remember a horrible day in Jan 2018 when I spent a day with what I though was a virus and was getting all sorts of problems which turn out to be a really buggy update that was knocking computers out all over the place. They emailed an apology out to people but it did sow some seeds of distrust (for myself) in the software. I think that Defender has improved so much that I think that is all I require (the rest is up to my vigilance). I have retired Malwarebytes but will keep the licence in case I ever want to try it again in the future.

That is because 11 was not officially released YET. It works fine now in the official release of Win 11.
Any issues now, Malwarebytes will be happy to assist on the forum.
Malwarebytes did not want to spend resources to troubleshoot issues in the betas of Win 11.
